Head of Engineering (Cybersecurity)

Location: Arlington, VA; on-site. U.S. citizenship required and eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance is required.

Base salary: $197K–$236K. Estimated total compensation: $289K–$354K, including target bonus and estimated equity value.

What you will do

• Build and lead the engineering organization across infrastructure, security, reliability, and accreditation.
• Define team structure, set priorities, hire engineers and managers, and develop senior technical leaders.
• Own the software delivery path from development through build, signing, packaging, installation, upgrades, and rollback in customer environments.
• Operate products across cloud, private, restricted, disconnected, and customer sites, including incident response and postmortems.
• Lead product security engineering, vulnerability management, secure defaults, detection, and collaboration with a managed detection and response provider.
• Establish the accreditation program for products deployed on government networks and communicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs to senior leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience across software, infrastructure, site reliability, or security engineering.
• 5+ years of engineering management experience, including management of multiple teams or disciplines and engineering managers.
• Experience building or substantially rebuilding an engineering function, hiring across multiple roles, and leading senior engineers outside your own specialty.
• Experience operating production systems with on-call, incident response, postmortems, and root cause analysis.
• Experience supporting software outside standard cloud environments, including on-premises, private, restricted, customer-controlled, disconnected, or classified infrastructure.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in defense, intelligence, or national security technology.
• Experience with government accreditation, authorization, CMMC, SOC 2, or NIST 800-53.
• Experience leading forward-deployed or on-site engineering teams in customer environments.
• Experience with AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, artifact signing, Go, Python, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, or Neo4j.
• Experience with managed detection and response, vulnerability management, identity and access tooling, and internal platforms adopted by product teams.
