Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, San Francisco, United States; onsite culture in San Francisco

Salary: $170,000–$220,000 annual base salary for San Francisco-based employees; full-time employees are also eligible for equity and insurance.

What you will do

• Build and operate a market-intelligence foundation covering companies, carbon markets, registries, policies, suppliers, buyers, and climate commitments.
• Ingest, structure, enrich, and model data from APIs, websites, registries, PDFs, spreadsheets, and public disclosures.
• Develop schemas, entity-resolution workflows, validation checks, provenance tracking, freshness monitoring, and confidence signals.
• Build AI-powered research workflows, retrieval systems, MCP tools, agents, internal applications, APIs, and workflow integrations.
• Turn prototypes into observable, testable, maintainable production systems used by Climate Strategists, Sales, and Marketing.
• Own medium-sized projects end to end, from ambiguous user needs and design through implementation, rollout, monitoring, and iteration.

Requirements

• Production experience shipping and maintaining software or data systems.
• Strong software engineering skills in at least one of Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript, plus solid SQL, API, and cloud-infrastructure experience.
• Experience with data ingestion, ETL/ELT, web scraping, data modeling, entity resolution, or external API integrations.
• Understanding of data-quality practices including testing, monitoring, versioning, documentation, validation, and provenance.
• Experience building or operating AI- or LLM-powered systems involving retrieval, tool calling, agents, workflow orchestration, evaluation, or human-in-the-loop review.
• Ability to work across backend services, data pipelines, internal tools, and lightweight user interfaces in a small, high-ownership environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Salesforce, HubSpot, Gong, Zapier, n8n, BigQuery, dbt, or enrichment platforms.
• Background in climate markets, carbon markets, sustainability data, energy, finance, or research.
