Seating and Passive Safety HW Validation Engineer

What you will do

• Develop and manage validation plans for mechanical, electrical, and environmental failure modes in interior trim, seating, occupant classification, airbags, and seatbelt systems.
• Define requirements with design engineers and ensure they are covered in validation plans.
• Select test assets, data acquisition systems, and sensors, and analyze test data for clear reporting.
• Support DFMEA, root cause failure analysis, and mitigation activities across development, validation, and deployment.
• Design test fixtures and manage validation schedules, test resources, and critical-path assets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of test or validation experience with automotive interior trims, seats, or restraint systems.
• Experience with failure analysis, root cause analysis, DFMEA management, and requirements management tools such as Polarion.
• Knowledge of relevant FMVSS, UN ECE, Euro NCAP, IIHS, ISO, ASTM, and SAE testing standards for seating, restraints, airbags, crash measurement, flammability, materials, and instrumentation.
• Knowledge of UN 3268, the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, DOT/ADR hazardous-material rules, and local explosives-handling regulations such as ATF requirements in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with CATIA 3DX, CATIA V5, or SolidWorks.
• Experience with passive safety systems, seat structures, anchorages, recliners, tracks, latches, crash or sled testing, and instrumentation.
• Knowledge of airbag modules and inflators, seatbelt systems, and steering wheel, knee, curtain, side, or pedestrian airbag architectures.
