Salary: $215,900–$287,800 per year

Company

hirify.global develops data storage systems and infrastructure for AI-driven data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise environments, combining engineering expertise with large-scale manufacturing.

What you will do

  • Lead research projects involving superconducting qubit design and nanofabrication from wafer processing through device packaging.
  • Design and fabricate superconducting qubit and QPU test devices using aluminum-, niobium-, and tantalum-based systems.
  • Investigate relationships between nanofabrication choices and device performance, with a focus on uniformity across wafers and between wafers.
  • Collaborate with room-temperature and low-temperature DC/RF metrology scientists and materials scientists to measure device performance and wafer-level characteristics.
  • Implement process and design changes that drive continuous improvement and develop solutions to novel product challenges.
  • Prepare reports and visualizations, publish research papers, and present findings at conferences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. and post-doctoral experience in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science, with experimental work in superconducting qubit design, nanofabrication, and metrology.
  • Thorough understanding of superconducting qubit design theory and practical experience with nanofabrication methods for superconducting qubits.
  • Experience with wafer-level metrology, including SEM, TEM, AFM, and XPS.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Rust, TCL, or C, with the ability to select the appropriate tool for each task.
  • Ability to work independently on fundamental research, communicate complex technical findings clearly, and solve problems outside the immediate area of expertise.

Nice to have

  • Experience with chip-to-wafer bonding using superconducting bumps.
  • Knowledge of FPGA-based microcontrollers or willingness to acquire it.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time exempt employment in an R&D engineering function.
  • Paid vacation and sick leave.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, accident, and disability insurance.
  • Flexible spending and health savings accounts, employee assistance, and voluntary benefit programs.
  • Tuition reimbursement, transit benefits, employee stock purchase plan, and 401(k) plan.
  • Potential eligibility for short-term and long-term incentive programs, including restricted stock units.
