Senior Director, U.S. Government Quantum Hardware Strategy

Location: Broomfield, Colorado, United States; on-site. Travel within the United States is required as business needs require.

Base pay: $215,000–$289,000 annually, with bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Develop and execute U.S. government quantum hardware strategy aligned with Compute Products priorities.
• Build multi-year roadmaps covering quantum processors, control electronics, cryogenics, packaging, interconnects, testing, and classical integration.
• Lead hardware development, validation, benchmarking, demonstration, and deployment initiatives with DOE, NIST, DoD, national laboratories, and other federal organizations.
• Translate mission needs into technical requirements, test plans, acceptance criteria, milestones, and transition pathways.
• Coordinate engineering, product, manufacturing, supply-chain, legal, intellectual property, security, contracts, and program-management stakeholders.
• Prepare executive narratives, technical briefs, portfolio recommendations, and decision packages for senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of post-education experience in quantum computing, advanced computing, semiconductor systems, electronics, cryogenics, hardware engineering, technical strategy, product leadership, or government program development.
• Must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be a national of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
• Experience with quantum computing hardware, including processors, control electronics, cryogenic infrastructure, packaging, interconnects, testing, reliability, or system integration.
• Knowledge of U.S. government missions, laboratories, funding, contracting, acquisition, security, export-control, and intellectual-property processes.
• Strong executive communication, negotiation, analytical, stakeholder-alignment, and program-management skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, quantum information science, or a related technical field.
• Established relationships with DOE, NIST, DoD, national laboratories, defense laboratories, federal R&D organizations, or the U.S. quantum technology ecosystem.
• Experience with hardware benchmarks, testbeds, joint demonstrations, externally funded programs, or government deployment pathways.
