Company

hirify.global develops large-scale data storage infrastructure for AI-driven data platforms, hyperscale data centers, cloud services, and enterprise systems.

What you will do

  • Lead research projects in quantum computing thin-film materials stack design and surface/interface control.
  • Develop Al-, Nb-, and Ta-based superconductors and insulators, including AlOx, for resonators and Josephson junctions.
  • Characterize thin-film stacks and improve process uniformity across wafers and from wafer to wafer.
  • Collaborate with nanofabrication scientists, electrical characterization specialists, device designers, and product teams.
  • Prepare technical reports, visualizations, research papers, and conference presentations.
  • Pursue independent fundamental research and solve complex problems in an unstructured environment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. and post-doctoral experience in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science focused on thin-film stacks for superconducting qubits.
  • Thorough understanding of superconducting qubit design theory and familiarity with superconducting qubit device designs and material systems.
  • Experience with thin-film characterization methods including XRD, AFM, CIPT, cross-sectional TEM, and XPS.
  • Experience with a range of thin-film deposition techniques and the ability to operate independently at high throughput.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Rust, TCL, or C, with willingness to work with FPGA-based microcontrollers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex technical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

  • Experience with nanofabrication methods for superconducting qubits.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time exempt employment in an R&D engineering function.
  • Paid vacation and sick leave.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, accident, and disability insurance.
  • Flexible spending and health savings accounts, employee assistance programs, and tuition reimbursement.
  • Eligibility for incentive plans, long-term incentives, employee stock purchase plans, and a WD Savings 401(k) Plan.
