Compensation Analyst

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States; onsite

Annual base pay: $85,000–$93,000, plus potential benefits and performance bonuses.

What you will do

• Support compensation assessments for hires, promotions, transfers, reorganizations, and role changes through market pricing, internal equity analysis, FLSA review, and grade recommendations.
• Administer US and Canada sales compensation plans, including commission calculations, payout validation, Payroll routing, and incentive statements.
• Maintain market pricing data, complete job matches, support compensation surveys, and analyze survey results across international regions.
• Support merit, bonus, and salary planning cycles, including eligibility validation, testing, issue resolution, and Workday compensation data maintenance.
• Perform compensation audits, investigate discrepancies, and support pay equity, pay transparency, range disclosure, documentation, training, and process improvement initiatives.
• Use approved generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Claude for research, analysis, documentation, and communications while protecting confidential data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, finance, economics, data analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in compensation, HR analytics, or a related field, including at least 2 years of direct compensation experience.
• Working knowledge of market pricing, job evaluation, salary structures, internal equity, incentive plans, FLSA, and federal and California wage and hour rules.
• Strong Excel skills, including lookups, nested formulas, pivot tables, and data reconciliation with large datasets.
• Strong analytical, communication, organization, judgment, and confidentiality skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Carlsbad, California and work extended hours during annual compensation cycles and sales incentive payout periods.

Nice to have

• Certified Compensation Professional designation or progress toward certification.
• Experience with sales or incentive compensation, market pricing surveys, HRIS or compensation systems, and annual merit or bonus cycles.
• Workday Compensation experience, international market pricing, Workday testing, dashboarding, data visualization, pay equity, or pay transparency analysis.
• Experience with enterprise generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Claude.
