Sr. Software Engineer (Software Testing)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite role

Base salary: $129,400–$194,000 per year, plus eligible bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Contribute to software integration and verification strategies for instrument software components and subsystems.
• Create subsystem-level test and integration design proposals, assess risks, and collaborate with architects and technical leaders.
• Develop automated test suites, test environments, tools, services, and scalable automation infrastructure.
• Investigate and diagnose software integration issues involving complex hardware systems.
• Coordinate with program leads and multidisciplinary stakeholders, track progress, and communicate integration risks.
• Mentor engineers in test automation and software integration practices.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 3 years with a master's degree, or equivalent experience; a PhD may substitute for experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, biomedical engineering, software engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Experience with testing frameworks such as MSTest, Mocha, Jest, Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent tools.
• Experience with multiple programming environments, including C#/.NET, JavaScript, or Python, and with Shell scripting in Bash/Linux environments.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, or equivalent tools, plus continuous integration, static analysis, unit testing, and integration testing.
• This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• AWS infrastructure experience.
• Experience integrating software with complex hardware systems.
• Knowledge of hardware/firmware development, medical software, healthcare regulations, cybersecurity, and industry standards.
• Experience with Next Generation Sequencing, bioinformatics, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux software development, or AI tools such as Copilot or Claude.
• Medical device or other regulated-industry experience.
