Sr Engineer, Systems Software Automation (MedTech)

Location: On-site in Irvine, California, United States

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 annual salary, plus bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and infrastructure for instrument and system-level testing.
• Build reusable test libraries, device interfaces, protocol libraries, utilities, and shared automation components.
• Test distributed microservice-based systems across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid deployments.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve system testability, observability, communication protocols, and diagnostics.
• Mentor engineers and establish software architecture, code quality, maintainability, and reuse practices.
• Participate in technical design and code reviews and provide technical leadership for automation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in software development, test automation, software verification, or a related engineering field.
• Strong Python development skills, including object-oriented programming, debugging, and reusable software components.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated test frameworks or substantial automation infrastructure.
• Experience testing distributed microservice-based systems in on-premises, cloud, or hybrid environments.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD systems, and modern software development practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with medical devices, embedded systems, or other regulated products.
• Experience interfacing with physical devices, laboratory equipment, or test instrumentation.
• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability or messaging standards such as HL7 and WCTP.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and container or orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
