Senior SDET, Back End (Cloud Testing)

Location: Remote anywhere in the U.S., excluding U.S. territories; core meeting hours are 9AM–2PM Pacific time. Occasional travel may be requested but is not required.

Salary: $198,000–$281,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and maintain shared automation frameworks, internal services, and developer tools.
• Own backend API, microservice, contract, integration, system, and end-to-end workflow test strategy and execution.
• Develop reusable, data-driven automation with dependency isolation, mocking, parallel execution, and clear failure reporting.
• Validate business rules, API contracts, persistence, authorization, error handling, and compatibility across services.
• Test asynchronous processing and distributed-system failure scenarios, including retries, duplicate events, partial failures, and delayed consistency.
• Integrate reliable quality checks into CI/CD pipelines and troubleshoot cloud services using logs, telemetry, and infrastructure evidence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 6–8 years of software testing or engineering experience, including at least 3 years focused on backend APIs and service-based architectures.
• Strong programming ability and substantial experience developing test automation frameworks and maintainable test code.
• Deep understanding of API testing, microservices, service contracts, distributed applications, and advanced automation design.
• Experience testing public-cloud applications, identity and permissions, networking, compute, storage, messaging, CI/CD, source control, and environment configuration.
• Must be located in the U.S.; core collaboration hours are 9AM–2PM Pacific time.

Nice to have

• Property and casualty insurance experience in policy administration, billing, rating, claims, or related integrations.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, third-party integrations, performance, resilience, or service-level security testing.
• Demonstrated improvements in automation reliability, execution time, or defect detection.
