Senior Staff / Staff Software Engineer, Trust & Safety (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, IL, USA or San Francisco, CA, USA; hybrid work with four days per week in the office for employees near a hirify.global office and Fridays from home.

Base salary: $223,000–$373,000 USD annually, depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience. Full-time employees may also be eligible for bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the technical vision for the Trust and Safety organization and collaborate with engineering and product leadership.
• Design and evolve scalable, extensible risk capabilities and member-facing systems.
• Deliver secure, reliable, high-performance infrastructure and APIs.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks in software development processes and infrastructure.
• Provide architectural guidance, mentor engineers, and lead teams during projects.
• Contribute domain expertise to organization-level architecture and technology decisions.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building and evolving high-scale backend solutions.
• Experience building end-to-end member-facing features and systems.
• Strong competency in distributed systems, scalable and extensible platforms, and high-availability design.
• Experience leading and empowering multiple teams.
• Ability to work in an agile environment with a language- and technology-agnostic mindset.
