News Team Lead (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Lead breaking news and enterprise journalism covering federal health agencies and healthcare policy battles in courts, Congress, and other venues.
• Strengthen newsroom culture and support the development of reporters and editors.
• Set coverage goals and targets for daily news and longer-term editorial priorities.
• Coach reporters and editors, provide feedback, and remove barriers to producing strong stories.
• Make timely editorial decisions during breaking news and plan future coverage needs.

Requirements

• Exceptional curiosity, news judgment, and the ability to set a coverage agenda.
• Excellent editing skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
• Strong collaboration, communication, change-management, and newsroom leadership skills.
• A self-starting approach, high standards, and the ability to make difficult decisions under pressure.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least seven years of journalism experience with demonstrated success producing ambitious, high-quality stories.
