Assistant Controller (Manufacturing)

Location: Kennewick, Washington, United States; office-based role with occasional travel and work outside normal business hours as needed.

Salary: $105,000–$150,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Lead key components of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including variance analysis and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, complex journal entries, accruals, adjustments, reclassifications, payroll entries, and deferrals.
• Maintain general ledger and trial balance integrity by investigating unusual transactions, misclassifications, discrepancies, and account fluctuations.
• Oversee payroll accounting, employee expenses, Concur activity, corporate credit card reconciliations, cash monitoring, banking activities, and forecasting inputs.
• Prepare and review sales and use tax and B&O tax filings, including reconciliation of Avalara activity to the general ledger.
• Support internal and external audits, maintain audit-ready documentation, improve accounting procedures, and contribute to system enhancements and special projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience covering general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Experience reviewing accounting work and supporting or leading external audits.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting documentation standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and independent judgment skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and ERP or accounting systems.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or active progress toward CPA.
• Experience with payroll accounting, sales and use tax, B&O tax, and automated tax systems such as Avalara.
• Experience in manufacturing or a similarly complex operating environment.
