Software Engineering Internship (Quantum Error Correction)

Location: Hybrid internship based at the head office in Cambridge, UK; full-time for 10–12 weeks during the summer vacation period. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK for the full internship duration.

Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum, paid pro rata for the internship duration.

hirify.global develops quantum error correction technology and partners with quantum hardware providers and government agencies to advance fault-tolerant quantum computing.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test software contributing to quantum error correction technology.
• Work with software engineers, researchers, mathematicians, physicists, and other technical specialists.
• Explore ideas, evaluate approaches, and contribute to technical problem-solving.
• Communicate technical work through discussions, presentations, and written reports.
• Build knowledge of quantum computing, quantum error correction, and their applications.

Requirements

• Current student status is required: studying toward a Bachelor's degree from the second year onward, Master's degree, or PhD.
• Studying Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical subject.
• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language and understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to take initiative and work effectively in a team.
• Availability for full-time work for 10–12 weeks and existing UK work authorization are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with C++ or Python.
• Experience writing tests, debugging code, or using Git and other version control tools.
• Software development experience from a collaborative project.
