Senior Bioinformatics Scientist (Genomics)

Location: UK remote; primary posting location: Cambridge, England

Base salary: GBP 44,000–66,000 per year, plus eligible bonus, equity, pension contribution, private medical insurance, and other benefits.

What you will do

• Plan and execute bioinformatics analyses for new and existing sequencing platforms.
• Assess sequencing data quality, investigate performance trends, and communicate actionable findings.
• Run, validate, maintain, configure, and troubleshoot standardized bioinformatics workflows.
• Develop reusable scripts, workflow configurations, quality metrics, visualizations, and supporting tools.
• Collaborate with scientific, bioinformatics, software, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and solve technical challenges.
• Investigate root causes of workflow, platform, instrument, and data quality issues while supporting documentation, training, and process improvement.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience in bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing technologies.
• Master’s or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Experience with Python and/or R, Unix/Linux environments, and reproducible workflow development.
• Experience assessing data quality, troubleshooting complex issues, and communicating technical information to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
• Applicants must be able to work remotely from the UK.
