Director, Platform Security Engineering and Operations

Location: Chicago, IL, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship.

Salary: $164,600–$288,000 USD annual base pay.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop security engineering teams responsible for enterprise security platforms.
• Set technical and operational direction across zero-trust, SASE/SSE, network security, vulnerability management, AI guardrails, and SaaS security.
• Oversee the design, engineering, operation, lifecycle management, upgrades, resilience, and vendor management of security platforms.
• Lead vulnerability scanning, unified vulnerability management, secure web gateways, CASB, cloud access protection, browser isolation, and secure remote access capabilities.
• Own AI gateway controls for governing how users and applications consume LLMs and AI services, along with ServiceNow security integrations.
• Drive metrics, audit evidence, risk reduction, investment recommendations, proofs of concept, and tool rationalization across security, risk, audit, and operations.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in IT, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, network security, or platform engineering.
• 5+ years leading enterprise-scale security teams or major security engineering programs.
• Deep expertise in vulnerability scanning, zero-trust architecture, network security, SASE/SSE platforms, and web security architectures.
• Strong people leadership, executive communication, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with regulated environments, control evidence, operational resilience, risk acceptance, issue management, and audit or regulatory responses.
• U.S. work authorization is required; employment-based visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, banking, asset servicing, wealth management, or another highly regulated industry.
• Experience leading globally distributed or matrixed engineering teams through platform modernization, tool consolidation, or operating model transformation.
