Customs Brokerage Coordinator

Location: Hybrid role in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, United States; working hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday.

Salary: $22.64–$31.70 per hour.

What you will do

• Coordinate documentation required by U.S. Customs and government agencies for goods entering the United States.
• Classify goods using databases, standard operating procedures, tariff references, online resources, and customs guidance.
• Enter and process import documentation for submission to U.S. Customs and participating government agencies.
• Maintain shipment records in accordance with international importing and record-keeping requirements.
• Process agency brokerage shipments and provide customer service in collaboration with internal departments.
• Handle high-volume, time-sensitive work while following government and organizational policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Data entry and keyboarding experience.
• MS Office, Outlook, and experience using standard office equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, use multiple systems and reference materials, and manage detailed, time-sensitive work.
• Knowledge of HTS classification and U.S. Customs regulations is required for the preferred profile; brokerage experience is required as a preferred qualification.

Nice to have

• Six months of brokerage, transportation, or customer service experience.
• Knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff System and federal regulations related to customs brokerage.
