Principal Engineer (AI)

Location: London, England; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office

What you will do

• Lead the definition and execution of strategic engineering initiatives across the R&D organization.
• Build and evolve both back-end and front-end systems serving customer-support use cases at scale.
• Contribute to technical architecture, scalability, availability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Drive software development from ideation and prototyping through design and implementation.
• Assess project progress, risks, and challenges to support engineering prioritization and resource allocation.
• Hire, coach, mentor, and support the career development of engineers while partnering with engineering, product, design, research, and data leaders.

Requirements

• Significant demonstrated impact on products or engineering teams.
• Deep knowledge of a high-level programming language, such as Ruby, Python, or Perl.
• Experience with distributed systems.
• At least 2 years as the primary technical leader for a team.
• Experience collaborating with technical leaders, product teams, and designers, with a record of delivering value to customers or users.
• Experience building SaaS products is preferred.
