Senior Engineer II, Robotics Mechanical Design (Robotics)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; office-based role.

Expected base salary range: $136,800–$190,634 USD per year, with bonus potential and early-stage equity.

What you will do

• Design and iterate mounting and integration concepts combining robot arms with AMR and AGV platforms.
• Produce multiple design options for platform combinations and model custom mobile manipulators in 3D CAD.
• Design brackets, structural supports, interface hardware, and cable, hose, and connector routing.
• Run mass, center-of-gravity, and payload analyses to keep configurations within manufacturer specifications.
• Prepare simulation-ready CAD models and specifications for NVIDIA Isaac Sim validation, including exportable URDF and mesh geometry.
• Document design decisions, tolerances, and assembly procedures, and support physical build and integration.

Requirements

• Mechanical or mechatronic design experience in production, commercial, or applied R&D environments.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, or similar.
• Experience designing mechanical mounts, brackets, or structural interfaces for hardware integration.
• Understanding of payload, mass properties, and center-of-gravity considerations for robotic arms on mobile bases.
• Familiarity with robot-arm and AMR specifications, mounting interfaces, payload limits, and reach envelopes.
• Ability to iterate quickly, produce multiple design options, and clearly document design intent and constraints.

Nice to have

• Experience preparing clean CAD geometry for URDF and mesh conversion.
• Experience with robot arms, AMRs, ROS2/URDF conventions, NVIDIA Isaac Sim, or other robotics simulation tools.
• Background in warehouse automation, logistics robotics, or manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with rapid prototyping using 3D printing, sheet metal, or machining.
