Focus on owning complex hardware from concept through design, procurement, assembly, integration, testing, and flight delivery while solving challenges in mechanisms, interfaces, materials, vibration, shock, and verification.

Location: Onsite in Pasadena, California, United States. Candidates working in U.S. offices must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements.

Base salary: $132,000–$176,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $164,500–$233,275 USD annually.

Company

hirify.global is an end-to-end space company developing rockets, spacecraft, precision payloads, and critical spaceflight subsystems for commercial, scientific, and national security missions.

What you will do

  • Lead mechanical design and mechanism development for space robotics, precision mechanisms, electromechanical assemblies, tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment.
  • Own complex components and subsystems through architecture, detailed design, analysis, procurement, assembly, integration, environmental testing, qualification, and delivery.
  • Lead trade studies and technical decisions covering packaging, interfaces, materials, fabrication, assembly, inspection, verification, and design risk.
  • Create and maintain SolidWorks models, production drawings, bills of material, assembly documentation, test procedures, and supporting analyses.
  • Lead design, manufacturing, and test reviews while coordinating engineering, production, quality, supply chain, vendors, and test stakeholders.
  • Support hardware troubleshooting, inspection, qualification testing, test-data review, design iteration, and mentoring of less-experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience, including significant aerospace, spaceflight, robotics, or high-reliability hardware development experience.
  • 3+ years as a responsible engineer or technical lead for mechanical component or subsystem development.
  • Strong experience with SolidWorks, precision mechanical design, production drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, bills of material, and design documentation.
  • Experience applying first-principles calculations, finite element analysis, materials and process selection, inspection data, and test results to design decisions.
  • For U.S. office work, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, asylees, or eligible to obtain the required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with robotic manipulators, in-space servicing, planetary robotics, spacecraft mechanisms, or satellite deployment systems.
  • Experience designing actuators, gimbals, gear trains, harmonic drives, bearings, rotary sensors, launch locks, release devices, or kinematic interfaces.
  • Experience with structural, vibration, thermal, or thermal-elastic analysis and environmental test data.
  • Experience with NASA, JPL, DoD, commercial space, or prime-contractor flight programs, as well as AS9100 or failure-analysis processes.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on work on rockets, spacecraft, and space systems supporting ambitious space missions.
  • Employee stock participation, including an Employee Stock Purchase Program with a 15% discount.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including HMO, PPO, and a zero-cost HDHP option with HSA contributions.
  • Paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, and a 401(k) plan with company match.
  • Additional benefits include subsidized EV charging, fitness and gym discounts, snacks and beverages, and employee discounts.
