Security Lead (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Lead security documentation, assessments, authorization activities, and ATO efforts for contractor-provided systems.
• Manage continuous monitoring, vulnerability scanning, incident response, and security control assessments.
• Ensure compliance with FISMA, Census Bureau security policies, NIST standards, privacy requirements, and applicable FedRAMP controls.
• Define security controls for enrollment sites and oversee physical security, facility walkthroughs, and site authorizations.
• Manage personnel security processing, including background investigations, Title 13 requirements, oaths, and required training.
• Secure government interconnections and oversee supply chain risk, program security risks, and data sanitization at decommissioning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, engineering, operations management, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience leading IT system implementations, including 5 years leading multi-site or nationwide deployments.
• Experience with Agile software releases, coordinated hardware and field deployments, and operational readiness testing with government stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of logistics, equipment deployment, and large-scale site activation.
• Ability to obtain a Department of Commerce background investigation and Census Special Sworn Status.

Nice to have

• 12+ years of IT experience, including 8+ years in information security and 5+ years leading federal ATO efforts under the NIST Risk Management Framework.
• Experience with FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments, continuous monitoring, and systems processing PII or sensitive identity data.
• Prior ISSO or ISSM experience on a federal system.
• CISSP, CISM, or CAP/CGRC certification.
