TL;DR
Information Systems Security Engineer (Cybersecurity): Supporting mission-critical Coast Guard OPTEVFOR programs through RMF implementation, risk assessments, secure system design, and Zero Trust architecture with an accent on NIST security controls, authorization processes, and classified environments. Focus on assessing and authorizing systems, maintaining SSPs and POA&Ms, evaluating security controls, and supporting continuous monitoring and incident response.

Location: Norfolk, VA, USA; 100% on-site in a Special Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)

Salary: $85,000 per year

What you will do

  • Apply the Risk Management Framework in accordance with NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-53 to assess, authorize, and monitor systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and security evaluations.
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of Zero Trust architectures.
  • Develop and maintain system security documentation, including SSPs, POA&Ms, and security controls.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, architects, and stakeholders on secure system design and integration.
  • Support continuous monitoring, incident response, and technical guidance on cybersecurity best practices.

Requirements

  • Active TOP SECRET/SCI security clearance required.
  • Must work 100% on-site in a SCIF.
  • At least 6 years of cybersecurity experience in engineering, compliance, or risk management.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • CISSP or CASP+/SecurityX certification.
  • Experience with RMF implementation, NIST SP 800-53 controls, NIST SP 800-37, and security assessment and authorization processes.

Nice to have

  • Experience in classified or highly secure government environments.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust security principles and architecture.
  • Experience with NLCC, NC3, nuclear command and control systems, or NSA cryptography methodologies and standards.
