Flight Test Manager (UAV)

Location: Weiterstadt, Germany; full-time, permanent employee. Home office and flexible working hours are offered.

What you will do

• Lead and manage a team of approximately eight flight test engineers.
• Guide flight testing for product certification with FAA, ANAC, JCAB, and EASA regulatory authorities.
• Represent the flight test team in Product Increment planning and align testing with product goals.
• Plan and estimate testing tasks, resources, timelines, logistics, and validation activities.
• Apply UAV airworthiness and airmanship expertise to conduct safe, properly instrumented flight tests.
• Review and release flight test plans, test cards, and reports while improving processes with certification, ground test, software, and hardware teams.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in aviation engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in manned or unmanned flight testing.
• More than five years of experience as a test manager and proven leadership of flight test engineers or similar technical teams.
• Experience with certification flight testing and regulatory authorities including ANAC, FAA, EASA, and JCAB.
• Knowledge of test-driven development, experience-based testing, and iterative V-model production development cycles.
• Familiarity with Jira, Visure, PX4 autopilots, and eVTOL UAS or manned aircraft systems; an A1/A3 drone pilot license is required.
