Site Manager (Anaerobic Digestion)

Location: Nether Poppleton, York, United Kingdom; regular travel between AD plants in England and Scotland is required, with occasional overnight stays.

What you will do

• Lead the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of two anaerobic digestion facilities.
• Drive plant performance, including biological stability, CHP electrical generation, heat utilization, and operational output.
• Manage site teams, contractors, service providers, maintenance activities, statutory inspections, RAMS, permit-to-work processes, and preventative maintenance.
• Own operational and financial performance, including budgets, cash-flow forecasts, profit and loss reviews, reporting, feedstock procurement, and cost control.
• Build a strong health, safety, environmental, and quality culture through risk assessments, training, incident reporting, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Experience managing anaerobic digestion, renewable energy, waste-processing, or similar industrial facilities.
• Knowledge of Environmental Permit compliance, APHA requirements, PAS 110 standards, and operational reporting.
• Experience leading operational teams in process, waste, utilities, or renewable-energy environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, stakeholder-management, and operational leadership skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between sites are required.
• IOSH Managing Safely qualification, or willingness to obtain it through company-supported training.

Nice to have

• WAMITAB qualification in Anaerobic Digestion or a related discipline.
• Experience with budgeting, cash-flow monitoring, operational reporting, and performance analysis.
