Senior AI Tech Architect (AI Platforms)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

First-year base compensation: $160,000 CAD, plus an annual discretionary performance bonus and retirement contribution.

What you will do

• Design and implement AI and LLM-based platform components, including agentic systems, RAG solutions, prompt workflows, and enterprise integrations.
• Build and support batch and real-time inference pipelines with attention to performance, reliability, and operational readiness.
• Develop prototypes and technical proofs of concept using modern AI frameworks and libraries; test and iterate on prompts, retrieval strategies, and agentic workflows.
• Deploy AI platform components to development and production environments and assist with monitoring, troubleshooting, versioning, testing, and performance improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, product team members, Lead and Principal Architects, and project stakeholders; contribute to technical documentation, presentations, and design discussions.
• Support junior team members, contribute to proposals or internal initiatives, and grow toward broader architectural responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
• 4+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or AI development.
• Solid foundation in software development and distributed systems concepts.
• Hands-on experience building or integrating AI/ML or LLM-based components.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Replit, or Lovable for development, debugging, and rapid iteration.
• Familiarity with modern AI frameworks and libraries such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar; working understanding of RAG, prompt orchestration, vector databases, and basic multi-agent patterns.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms and AI services, with experience in at least one hyperscaler environment; experience deploying AI workloads and integrating AI components with APIs and data sources.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to code quality, ability to explain technical concepts clearly, willingness to learn in ambiguous environments, and an agile mindset focused on iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
• GenAI fluency, including proven use of tools such as ChatGPT or Claude and validation of their responses.
• Willingness to travel to work with clients and BCG teams as needed.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with containerization concepts such as Docker; Kubernetes exposure is a plus.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
