Staff Software Engineer, Backend Platform (Go/Python)

Location: Toronto, Canada; in-person attendance required at least 3 days per week

Base pay range: CAD 200,000–235,000 per year, plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define and lead large-scale initiatives covering backend frameworks, tooling, and shared libraries.
• Design long-term technical solutions that improve scalability, reliability, and maintainability across backend services.
• Guide the evolution of static analysis, formatting systems, and service scaffolding used across the codebase.
• Partner with infrastructure, security, and product engineering teams to plan and deliver platform improvements.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on code quality, system design, and development practices.

Requirements

• Extensive experience building and scaling backend systems with Go and Python.
• Deep knowledge of backend frameworks such as Django, gRPC, or comparable Go systems.
• Experience designing internal platforms, developer tooling such as Bazel, or shared infrastructure used by multiple teams.
• Ability to lead complex technical projects and influence engineering direction across teams.
