Senior Backend Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Toronto GTA (On-site)

Salary: CA$180,000 – CA$210,000

What you will do

• Own service and API design for connected hardware and data-intensive workflows.
• Ensure data accuracy and production service reliability across device and customer workflows.
• Build telemetry, diagnostics, and operational tools for distributed systems.
• Develop APIs, SDKs, and command-line tools for hardware and data integration.
• Implement asynchronous workflows to handle retries, duplicate events, and interrupted transfers.
• Test end-to-end user workflows and maintain documentation and backward compatibility.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend programming in Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Depth in service reliability (telemetry, monitoring, diagnostics) or developer experience (APIs, SDKs, CLI tools).
• Experience designing APIs, data schemas, and databases with practical SQL knowledge.
• Understanding of distributed systems failure modes, including retries and intermittent connectivity.
• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, automated testing, and release practices.
• Ability to debug across services, client software, and device interfaces.

Nice to have

• Experience with connected hardware or operational web applications.
• Experience building public SDKs or working with large video and sensor datasets.
