Senior Engineer, Product Improvement Engineering (CMP)

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon, United States. The role is based at the Hillsboro site and may require cleanroom work, occasional evening meetings, and occasional travel.

Base salary: $90,000–$120,000 per year, depending on experience.

A global materials and manufacturing company developing products for semiconductor manufacturing and chemical mechanical planarization applications.

What you will do

• Own the full lifecycle of customer quality issues and performance requests for CMP polishing pad products.
• Lead 8D investigations, including problem definition, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, verification, and communication.
• Coordinate cross-functional engineering efforts across operations, materials engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality systems, R&D, and customer-facing groups.
• Analyze manufacturing processes, product design, material behavior, and customer application requirements to improve product capability and reliability.
• Apply statistical tools, DOE, correlation analysis, modeling, and material characterization to validate solutions.
• Present technical findings to customers, suppliers, and internal leadership and document lessons learned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Strong process engineering experience and the ability to analyze complex process–performance interactions.
• At least 2 years of experience leading engineering projects or cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on experience with 8D, DMAIC, or similar structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience with DMA, tensile, TMA, rheometry, mDSC, SEM, and ASTM/ISO standards, plus strong statistical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, work in cleanroom environments, and lift up to 20 lbs.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree with hands-on research experience.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, CMP, or polymer materials.
• Five or more years of formal technical, operations, or project leadership experience.
