Associate Principal Supplier Quality Engineer (Supplier Development)

Location: Hybrid in Alameda, California, with willingness and ability to work on site required; business travel may range from 0% to 25%.

Annual base salary: $138,000–$176,000.

What you will do

• Lead complex supplier development programs from definition through implementation, including scope, milestones, resources, dependencies, risks, governance, and measurable outcomes.
• Improve supplier capability, scalability, process robustness, quality, and readiness through qualification, capability assessments, Kaizen events, process optimization, and variation reduction.
• Assess supplier capacity, manufacturing processes, production readiness, operational risks, and technical due diligence requirements.
• Drive supplier stabilization, monitoring, corrective actions, root cause investigations, and technical risk-reduction activities.
• Support supplier diversification, second-source qualification, supplier transfers, make-versus-buy analyses, and new product introductions.
• Coordinate Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and supplier stakeholders while communicating risks, dependencies, decisions, and recovery plans to leadership.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in supplier engineering, supplier development, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, supplier quality engineering, project engineering, operations engineering, or related technical functions.
• Experience leading supplier development, process improvement, supplier capability, or value-add initiatives directly with suppliers.
• Experience partnering with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality organizations.
• Experience leading multiple concurrent complex initiatives, including project plans, schedules, milestones, and executive-level status updates.
• Willingness and ability to work on site in Alameda, California, including office, laboratory, and cleanroom environments.

Nice to have

• Medical device or other regulated manufacturing experience.
• Lean or Six Sigma training and experience leading supplier Kaizens.
• Experience with supplier diversification, second-source programs, supplier transfers, and global suppliers.
• Knowledge of statistical methods, process validation, risk management, and root cause analysis.
• PMP, ASQ CQE, or CQA certification.
