Principal Full Stack Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

Location: Remote in Canada, with hiring planned in Vancouver and across Canada

Base pay: CA$172,800–CA$225,600 per year

What you will do

• Understand user journeys and funnels while collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to influence product strategy.
• Guide the technical direction and implementation of large-scale product features.
• Evaluate trade-offs across correctness, robustness, performance, and customer impact.
• Ship well-tested, secure, reliable, and maintainable code, including complex bug fixes and improvements to team efficiency.
• Improve engineering excellence through design principles, testing, performance engineering, security, and privacy practices.
• Mentor engineers, provide performance coaching, and contribute to cross-company collaboration.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing and building enterprise-grade solutions using microservices.
• Experience with Java, Kotlin, observability tools, and service operations.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS offerings.
• Experience building distributed systems for a SaaS product.
• Ability to identify gaps and redundant efforts across organizations and reconcile them through cross-company collaboration.
• Experience influencing and performance coaching engineers.
