Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack – Aurora Services (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $146,000–$234,000 per year, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own substantial full-stack software components and deliver production-ready systems from high-level goals.
• Design and evolve software products, REST/gRPC APIs, microservices, and data pipelines for real-time fleet operations.
• Build command-and-control software, operator interfaces, and data tracking tools for commercial autonomous vehicle fleets.
• Balance MVP delivery with scalable long-term architecture, coordinating dependencies and delivery estimates.
• Establish engineering practices for code quality, testing, performance, documentation, code reviews, and architecture.
• Collaborate with operations, autonomy, and cloud infrastructure teams while improving system reliability and advising peers.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience delivering key components of large-scale full-stack systems.
• Hands-on experience across software architecture, client-facing applications, and data storage solutions.
• Experience designing, refactoring, and maintaining REST/gRPC APIs and microservices.
• Ability to turn ambiguous requirements into actionable technical plans and execute independently.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills and experience translating operational requirements into software abstractions.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time distributed systems, fleet management, command-and-control software, logistics, or IoT tracking.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud deployment tooling.
• Exposure to onboard vehicle software or C++ codebases.
