Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote in Canada; occasional travel for company-wide or departmental meetings, typically 1–2 times per year.

Base salary: $103,000–$160,000 per year.

What you will do

• Ship production features from specification through delivery for government permitting and community development products.
• Write specifications and acceptance criteria, direct coding agents, critically review generated output, and own the final result.
• Ensure correctness, performance, security, testing, and usability of shipped software.
• Improve agentic development workflows, reusable prompts, orchestration processes, and evaluation practices with the product pod and Applied AI team.
• Learn and apply the domain rules behind permitting, licensing, plan review, inspections, and municipal operations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience shipping production web applications.
• Deep fundamentals in API design, data modeling, testing, and cloud infrastructure.
• Production experience building with coding agents and AI-assisted development tools.
• Strong written communication and the ability to create clear technical specifications.
• Ability to understand, verify, and take ownership of code produced with or without direct authorship.
• Comfort working at a fast pace with ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Experience with government, civic, regulated, permitting, land management, community development, or municipal software.
• Experience with auditability and accessibility requirements.
• Experience with eval-driven development or evaluation harnesses for AI-generated code.
