Hardware Quality Assurance Engineer II (Automotive)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States; at least 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $126,000–$201,000 per year, plus annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System for hardware product design and development.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, production, and operations teams to integrate quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
• Participate in internal audits, risk assessments, management reviews, and ISO 9001 audit preparation.
• Analyze quality data and metrics, troubleshoot product issues, identify root causes, and support corrective actions.
• Coordinate quality training and maintain documentation and records for audits and compliance assessments.
• Apply Six Sigma, Lean, statistical techniques, 8D, and 5-Why methods to quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Practical experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems and quality management methodologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
• Typically 3+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or a related role involving hardware product development and operations.
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, Statistical Process Control, and similar quality tools.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Nice to have

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or another quality management certification.
• Experience with IATF 16949 or ISO 26262.
• Familiarity with Minitab or other statistical software.
• Programming or scripting experience with C++, Python, or equivalent.
• Experience with Jira, Jama, Arena, PLM, ERP, or MRP systems.
