Privacy Legal Counsel (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas, or New York, New York, United States

Estimated base salary: $135,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Coordinate personal data incident responses, independently leading low- to medium-risk cases and supporting complex investigations.
• Maintain incident records, logs, playbooks, templates, workflows, and post-incident actions.
• Support the global privacy compliance programme across GDPR, UK data protection law, and US privacy frameworks.
• Own privacy frameworks such as DPIA and ROPA standards and drive adoption across business teams.
• Support privacy-by-design activities, including data-flow mapping, safeguard documentation, and risk escalation.
• Prepare draft responses to regulatory inquiries and data subject requests while coordinating stakeholders and deadlines.

Requirements

• Admission to the bar and an active Texas law license required.
• Experience in privacy, data protection, or compliance, preferably in a technology or consumer-focused environment.
• Strong working knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, and US privacy laws.
• Hands-on experience with incident response, DPIAs, LIAs, vendor assessments, or data mapping.
• Strong drafting, communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Typically 2–4+ years of experience, with equivalent backgrounds also considered.

Nice to have

• Experience with emerging global privacy frameworks.
• Experience using AI tools for research, drafting, and workflow efficiency with a responsible and inclusive approach.
