Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Agentic Systems (Active Secret Clearance)

Location: Remote within the United States, or hybrid/onsite at the northwest Austin, Texas office; travel up to 20% required

Base salary: $185,000–$230,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop machine learning solutions for customer projects and enduring product capabilities.
• Design and orchestrate data, agentic, and model workflows across models, agents, tools, and enterprise data.
• Build and improve LLM-powered agents and agentic systems for reliable production use.
• Evaluate agent performance, reliability, safety, and usability.
• Collaborate with customers, data scientists, software engineers, and DevOps engineers to shape the Chariot AI operations platform.
• Support mission-critical deployments and use field insights to guide platform improvements.

Requirements

• Active Secret or higher US security clearance and US citizenship required.
• BS degree in computer science, machine learning, or a related discipline, plus 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience delivering data-centric production systems, including data engineering, cleaning, ETL, machine learning, or production analytics.
• Experience designing, building, evaluating, and optimizing LLM-powered agents and agentic workflows.
• Experience integrating AI systems with external tools, APIs, MCP servers, and enterprise data sources.
• Strong Python skills and knowledge of machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn, plus software engineering fundamentals and a systems programming language.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in data science, machine learning, computer science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of client-server architectures, asynchronous programming, REST, GraphQL, or frontend frameworks.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and cloud environments.
• Experience with unstructured data, complex technical delivery, team leadership, or secure government environments.
