Staff Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $230,000–$322,000 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position.

What you will do

• Architect and implement generative AI pipelines for high-impact advertising creative.
• Build image and video editing capabilities including smart cropping, inpainting, outpainting, resizing, and style transfer.
• Fine-tune large language and vision-language models using ad performance feedback such as CTR and CVR.
• Develop brand-safety, copyright, compliance, and human-escalation systems for generated content.
• Collaborate with Product, Sales, Policy, UX, and Ads ML teams to integrate capabilities into Ad Manager and ad delivery.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with tree models, neural networks, ranking, and LLM/VLM fine-tuning.
• Experience with RLHF or RLPF for advertising and generative systems.
• Strong quantitative and experimentation skills, including uplift metrics, variance, minimum detectable effects, and experiment design.
• Understanding of ad auctions, marketplaces, advertiser needs, and revenue or retention drivers.
• Experience building ad creative tools such as headline or image generators, pre-test models, or advertiser editing flows.
• Ability to explain complex machine learning trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
