Underwriting Lead, Cyber Portfolio Underwriting (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote within the United States, working North American business hours

Salary: $135,000–$185,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the Cyber Portfolio Underwriting referral queue during North American business hours and clear referrals within service levels and delegated authority.
• Prepare and manage carrier referrals under capacity agreements, including rework and post-response actions.
• Conduct four-eyes and secondary reviews across SME, mid-market, and large-risk business and manage pricing exceptions.
• Document underwriting decisions, maintain a referral decision library, and convert recurring patterns into guideline revisions, authority adjustments, coaching, and training content.
• Define automated referral gates and governance flags with Product and Engineering and track their effect on volume and cycle time.
• Produce referral management reporting, coordinate responses to North American carrier audits, and support new insurance product development.

Requirements

• 8+ years of cyber or technology E&O underwriting experience at a carrier, MGA, or reinsurer.
• Experience underwriting SME, mid-market, and large accounts.
• Deep familiarity with letters of authority, referral frameworks, and delegated-authority obligations.
• Strong judgment with the discipline to document the reasoning behind underwriting decisions.
• Ability to work with underwriting data and dashboards; Looker or SQL experience is beneficial.
• Ability to maintain governance standards with senior underwriters and distribution colleagues while remaining commercially constructive.
