Software Engineering Manager (Cybersecurity)

Location: Onsite five days a week in Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL; Denver, CO; or Dallas, TX. Up to 20% travel required.

Salary: $147,760–$240,110 per year.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, coach, and develop an engineering team while building a network of security champions.
• Own the application security improvement roadmap and translate enterprise policies into prioritized engineering initiatives.
• Embed threat modeling, secure coding, security testing, secrets management, cloud configuration controls, and dependency security into the software development lifecycle.
• Establish security release gates and review API and endpoint authentication, authorization, and access controls.
• Lead vulnerability triage, remediation tracking, risk escalation, asset inventories, and security performance dashboards.
• Partner with product, engineering, DevOps, quality assurance, suppliers, and central cybersecurity teams on audits, governance, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong software engineering management or technical leadership experience.
• Experience with software development, architecture, integration, testing, and secure development for modern applications, APIs, and cloud environments.
• Hands-on application security knowledge covering threat modeling, authentication, authorization, vulnerability validation, remediation, and automated security controls.
• Knowledge of OWASP guidance and security testing tools, including static and dynamic analysis, dependency scanning, secret scanning, and CI/CD integration.
• Must work onsite five days a week in Chicago, Peoria, Denver, or Dallas; relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling application security across a complex or global enterprise and collaborating with central security functions.
• CISSP, CISM, CSSLP, GIAC application security certification, a related master’s degree, or comparable advanced expertise.
