Lead, Thin Film Coatings Manufacturing Engineer (PECVD)

Location: Bedford, Massachusetts, United States; onsite manufacturing-floor work required

Salary: $107,000–$142,500 per year, plus annual bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Own the coatings yield-improvement roadmap and track major rework, minor rework, and scrap losses.
• Lead defect analysis, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and cost-of-poor-quality prioritization.
• Act as the technical authority for PECVD and other thin-film coating processes, supporting quality excursions and troubleshooting process-to-tool issues.
• Design and execute DOE, establish SPC, and implement process controls to reduce variation and prevent recurring defects.
• Lead Lean and Six Sigma DMAIC initiatives using 8D, 5 Whys, fishbone analysis, FMEA, and control plans.
• Manage coating projects, validation and qualification, change control, documentation, training, and communication with cross-functional teams and customers.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of process, yield, or manufacturing engineering experience, ideally in semiconductor or precision-materials manufacturing.
• Technical expertise in PECVD and thin-film deposition, with a record of measurable yield improvement and defect reduction.
• Strong statistical analysis skills in SPC, DOE, capability analysis, and MSA, including proficiency with tools such as Minitab.
• Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, structured problem solving, project management, formal change management, and technical communication.

• Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification.
• Direct experience with PECVD, PVD, or ALD coating processes.
• Experience with coating metrology, inspection methods, and yield ownership in semiconductor manufacturing.
