Senior Specialist, Systems Engineer (Defense)

Location: Greenville, Texas, United States. The role is based onsite and follows a 9/80 schedule, with occasional weekend or overtime work as required.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end software development, including architecture, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and delivery.
• Act as the primary technical interface for customers, coordinating schedules, requirements, progress, and deliverables.
• Design scalable authentication and authorization solutions for system access control.
• Lead small technical teams developing diagnostics and monitoring tools for system health visibility and root-cause analysis.
• Support software modernization, containerization, automation, and technical-debt reduction in legacy codebases.
• Maintain interface definitions, technical artifacts, user manuals, and other delivery documentation.

Requirements

• Active US TS/SCI security clearance is required.
• Applicants must be eligible for a US security clearance; clearances may only be granted to US citizens.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field with at least 6 years of relevant engineering experience; alternatively, a graduate degree with 4 years of experience or 10 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical environments, including ELINT receiver systems, signal analysis, and ELINT databases such as EPL, CED, EWIR, or MIDB.
• At least 5 years of experience with Linux, Jira, Confluence, and DOORS.
• Experience with unit testing, software verification, technical documentation, interface definitions, and customer-facing engineering communication. CompTIA Security+ certification is required.

Nice to have

• Secure software practices and access-control implementation experience.
• Experience with ELINT, airborne mission systems, communications systems, or similar defense platforms.
• Automation of manual engineering or release processes.
• Hardware troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
• Big Safari experience or USAF RC-135 Combat Systems Officer/Electronic Warfare Officer experience.
