Global Direct Category Manager (Life Sciences)

Location: Vacaville, California, United States; office-first with remote work permitted one day per week

Annual base salary: $108,750–$181,250 USD, plus performance-related bonus

What you will do

• Develop and execute global category strategies for direct raw materials.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, operations, quality, finance, and regional stakeholders.
• Lead RFx processes, supplier negotiations, contract development, and commercial planning.
• Manage global supplier performance, compliance, risk, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Assess and mitigate supply-chain risks, including single-source dependencies, capacity constraints, financial risks, and quality concerns.
• Support procurement policies, standardization, automation, cost reduction, and capability-building initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, economics, engineering, procurement, supply chain, or a related discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, process excellence, category management, or a related supply-chain function.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, chemical, or other highly regulated industries.
• Expertise in supplier selection, negotiations, contract management, and strategic sourcing methodologies.
• Experience managing supplier performance, supply-risk assessments, and business-continuity initiatives.
• Ability to influence global, regional, and site-based stakeholders while managing multiple priorities and ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Professional procurement certification such as CIPS or an equivalent qualification.
