CAP Intelligence Platform Databricks Engineer (Databricks)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office

Base salary: $104,000–$148,000 per year, plus annual bonus or commission, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Administer and support a multi-workspace Databricks Lakehouse environment, including Unity Catalog, service principals, compute, and enterprise integrations.
• Establish and monitor platform-wide governance for catalog structures, metadata, naming conventions, tagging, and compliance.
• Produce audit reports, governance scorecards, and monthly cost and usage reporting across workspaces, clusters, serverless workloads, and storage.
• Identify optimization opportunities and provide business-unit-level consumption transparency.
• Partner with workspace administrators and data stewards across six business units, provide documentation, and resolve complex platform issues.
• Support Terraform-based infrastructure automation for provisioning, governance validation, and reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in data platform administration, cloud infrastructure, or a comparable technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience administering Databricks at scale, including Unity Catalog, workspace configuration, and compute management.
• Experience delivering governance frameworks, compliance reporting, and cost management in complex, regulated environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working across technical and business teams in matrixed environments.

Nice to have

• Databricks Certified Professional or equivalent cloud certification, such as AWS.
• Experience in financial services, fintech, or regulated industries, including familiarity with Reg SCI.
• Background in FinOps, identity lifecycle management, or large-scale platform rollouts.
