Software Engineer, Agentic Discovery (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Lisbon, Portugal, or London, United Kingdom. An in-person interview may be required at a hirify.global office or hub at the offer stage.

Salary: €54,000–€75,000 annual salary for Portugal-based hires. Compensation may vary by work location.

What you will do

• Design and ship production-ready services for evaluating, testing, observing, and measuring how AI agents read and interact with websites and applications.
• Build and maintain integrations for emerging agent protocols, including MCP, MCP Apps, UCP, MPP, and WebMCP.
• Implement content controls for access management, licensing, and auditing.
• Develop agent-native business capabilities covering attribution, monetization, and analytics.
• Write secure, well-tested code while supporting privacy, reliability, performance, and documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, product managers, design engineers, and other stakeholders to take capabilities from concept to production.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience building and operating reliable, high-throughput production services.
• Solid knowledge of HTTP, APIs, proxies, caching, web security, and web performance.
• Hands-on experience or deep interest in AI agents, tool calling, Model Context Protocol, or agent harnesses.
• Ability to prototype quickly, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and ship solutions in an emerging technical domain.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Fluency in Rust, especially async Rust, or TypeScript/JavaScript edge runtimes such as hirify.global Workers.
• Experience with search, Answer Engine Optimization, web crawling, or RAG platform engineering.
• Open-source contributions to agent frameworks, protocols, web standards, browser engines, or distributed systems.
• Experience with web frameworks, proxies, CDN infrastructure, or bare-metal backend cloud providers.
• Knowledge of network and application performance troubleshooting, cryptography, or privacy-preserving web protocols.
