Principal Autonomous Test Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Remote within the United States, with periodic onsite visits to the Integrated Testing Center in Wilmington, Massachusetts. Less than 5% travel may be required.

Base salary: $180,000–$247,500 per year, plus medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and other benefits.

What you will do

• Build executive dashboards showing the organization-wide state of testing without manual data assembly.
• Design and own a versioned test-data schema with pipelines from test rigs, data acquisition systems, automated runs, and manual campaigns.
• Architect a shared automation framework covering orchestration, sequencing, result capture, and CI/CD.
• Integrate rigs, fixtures, instrumentation, and hardware-in-the-loop environments into automated end-to-end system testing.
• Provide reference implementations, documentation, and enablement to drive adoption across test teams.
• Define the platform roadmap, make build-versus-buy decisions, support reliability modeling, and mentor senior engineers.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in test automation, test infrastructure, or data-platform engineering for physical, electromechanical, or robotic systems.
• Experience building platforms adopted by teams outside the original engineering group.
• Hands-on expertise with DAQ, sensors, test rigs, hardware-in-the-loop systems, and system integration.
• Experience with test or telemetry data modeling, time-series data, and dashboards for non-engineering users.
• Strong Go and/or Python skills, plus CI/CD, containers, AWS, and API design experience.
• Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience architecting platforms in Go.
• Experience working with reliability engineers on life or degradation modeling.
