Staff Applied AI Engineer - Enterprise AI Solutions

Location: Hybrid in New York City or San Francisco, or remote within the United States. Annual travel of up to 25% is required.

Salary: $220,000–$300,000 USD annually, plus equity in the form of employee stock options.

What you will do

• Partner with customers to scope use cases, explore data, develop models, and deploy production AI and machine learning solutions.
• Design generative AI systems including retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning pipelines, prompt engineering recipes, and agentic workflows.
• Create augmented datasets and evaluation workflows focused on model reliability, transparency, and stakeholder trust.
• Build relationships with customer leadership and stakeholders while leading education, enablement workshops, presentations, and demos.
• Collaborate with Solutions, Product, and Applied AI teams to map customer needs to platform capabilities and prioritize tooling improvements.
• Standardize repeatable solutions into internal recipes, workflows, best practices, and platform-level capabilities.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of customer-facing experience designing and implementing AI or machine learning solutions.
• Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals, including modular design, testing, profiling, packaging, typed data modeling, APIs, and orchestration.
• Experience across classical machine learning, deep learning, foundation models, embeddings, data processing, retrieval and RAG, synthetic datasets, evaluation workflows, and LLM orchestration.
• Experience leading strategic customer-facing initiatives and connecting ML solutions to business outcomes.
• Outstanding presentation skills for technical and executive audiences, with the ability to balance priorities across multiple projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with tools such as Pydantic, mypy, pytest, Poetry, FastAPI, msgspec, Ray, Airflow, scikit-learn, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, FAISS, pandas, Spark, Chroma, Weaviate, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, or CrewAI.
