Lab Technician, Protection (Electronics)

Location: Carrollton, Texas, United States. The role includes travel to manufacturing facilities and work in and outside of the laboratory.

Salary: $32.21–$36.05 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform routine and custom product tests covering performance, quality, conformance, and failure analysis.
• Operate high-voltage, high-current, electronic, mechanical, and environmental test equipment safely.
• Design and fabricate test fixtures and specialized equipment for prototypes, new products, and existing product lines.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret test data; prepare technical reports, statistical summaries, drawings, sketches, and failure reports.
• Investigate customer returns, inspection failures, defective components, and new products using electrical, physical, chemical, thermal, X-ray, and disassembly methods where available.
• Consult with engineers and product designers, recommend test procedure improvements, maintain records, and assist or train other personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma plus two years of college or technical school training in electronics.
• At least two years of experience as an electronic or test technician, including equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Knowledge of electronic components and test equipment, with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot simple electronic circuits, apply Ohm’s Law, solve mathematical problems, and read or create technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience operating power supplies, digital multimeters, soldering tools, oscilloscopes, thermal imaging cameras, surge generators, AC sources, and hand tools.
• Ability to follow instructions, work with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks, and lift equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
