Performance/Simulation/Application Engineer (Electrified Powertrain)

Location: Mossville, Illinois, United States; 5 days on-site. Domestic travel up to 10% and minimal international travel are required. Domestic relocation assistance is offered.

Salary: $97,530–$146,290 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and integrate system-level electrified powertrain architectures, controls, and performance strategies for large mining trucks.
• Define and optimize control strategies balancing machine performance, energy efficiency, thermal management, reliability, and customer productivity.
• Create performance models, engineering tools, and analytical frameworks for data-driven product development.
• Establish system and subsystem requirements covering high-voltage architectures, power electronics, electrical systems, thermal management, and compliance.
• Plan, execute, and analyze validation and verification activities, including commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of test platforms.
• Coordinate with controls, software, power electronics, validation, product engineering, manufacturing, design, supply chain, and test teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
• Experience developing, integrating, or validating complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, or powertrain systems.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or similar simulation and engineering analysis software.
• Knowledge of system requirements development, system integration, and engineering validation processes.
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues, making data-based engineering decisions, and collaborating across engineering disciplines.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
• Experience with electrified powertrains, electric drive systems, controls, power electronics, motors, high-voltage systems, and safety strategies.
• Proven success leading cross-functional integration and validation activities.
