Design Release Engineer, Range Extender Generator & Inverter (Automotive)

Location: Novi, Michigan, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel.

Salary: $130,000–$160,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

hirify.global is developing electrified pickup trucks and rugged SUVs with all-electric and Harvester range extender powertrains.

What you will do

• Own the range extender generator and inverter subsystem for the skateboard platform, ensuring packaging, cost, mass, timing, and technical targets.
• Act as the technical lead and liaison between Scout Powertrain Engineering, engineering services contractors, and Tier 1 suppliers.
• Release 3D CAD and 2D drawings for generator and inverter assemblies into Scout PLM systems.
• Coordinate with powertrain development and validation teams to achieve subsystem requirements.
• Manage engineering changes through development and post-launch, including prototype hardware builds and testing support.
• Coordinate technical work with external engineering partners and the component supply base.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Strong powertrain fundamentals, particularly for trucks and SUVs.
• 8+ years of experience with design release of e-machines, generators, traction power inverter systems, or engines.
• Experience developing e-machines, generators, or traction power inverters through development and production, covering electrical and mechanical attributes.
• Experience working cross-functionally with vehicle integration, concept, purchasing, manufacturing, and related teams.
• Knowledge of powertrain mechanical design, systems engineering, CAE, GD&T, 3D CAD, 1D simulation, Teamcenter, manufacturing processes, and root cause analysis.

Nice to have

• Experience with generator and inverter systems used in gasoline range extender applications.
• Experience with powertrain component and system design release processes.
