Senior Associate, Commercial Workout Officer (Commercial Real Estate)

Location: Remote - New York; applicants must be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Salary: $93,750-$170,000 annual base pay

What you will do

• Manage a portfolio of distressed commercial real estate loans, monitoring collateral, borrowers, guarantors, and covenant compliance.
• Evaluate property operations, rent rolls, financial statements, market conditions, capital needs, and recovery opportunities.
• Develop and execute modifications, restructurings, forbearances, and other loan resolution strategies.
• Perform underwriting, financial modeling, collateral valuation, and risk analysis for credit recommendations.
• Negotiate with borrowers, sponsors, investors, legal representatives, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee judicial foreclosures and manage REO assets through stabilization, valuation, and disposition.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, accounting, or a related field.
• 9+ years of experience in commercial real estate workouts, special servicing, special assets, or credit risk management within a regulated financial institution.
• Experience with commercial real estate lending, credit underwriting, restructurings, asset management, and special assets.
• Deep knowledge of commercial loan documentation, mezzanine financing, and intercreditor agreements.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, relationship management, presentation, and credit recommendation skills.
• Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, loan servicing or risk management systems, and expert-level Excel.

Nice to have

• Experience in CMBS special servicing or special assets at a regulated financial institution.
• Knowledge of New York City rent-regulated multifamily housing.
• Experience managing judicial foreclosures, Chapter 11 bankruptcies, 363 sales, and REO assets.
• Master’s degree in finance, real estate, accounting, or a related field.
