Global Media Relations Director (Quantum Computing)

Location: Remote, United States. Employment requires U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residency, or lawful admission as a refugee or asylee because of export-control and government-contract restrictions.

Base salary: $148,000–$222,000 USD annually, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead proactive earned-media campaigns across global business, financial, broadcast, deep-tech, and scientific outlets.
• Oversee external communications agencies and coordinate results delivery.
• Coach executives, scientists, engineers, and other subject-matter experts for media engagements.
• Translate complex quantum technologies and scientific breakthroughs into accurate, compelling narratives.
• Write and edit press releases, pitches, media alerts, executive biographies, FAQs, and messaging playbooks.
• Support crisis communications, regulatory alignment, media monitoring, sentiment analysis, and industry trend engagement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, or a relevant scientific or technical field.
• 8+ years of media relations or corporate communications experience, including 4+ years in deep-tech, scientific, or highly technical industries.
• Proven success securing impactful coverage in top-tier financial, technology, and trade publications.
• Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, including the ability to turn scientific data into clear business narratives.
• Experience media-training C-suite executives and PhD-level subject-matter experts.
• Must meet U.S. export-control and government-contract eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-growth technology startups or publicly traded deep-tech companies.
• Knowledge of financial media relations and SEC or Regulation FD compliance.
• Familiarity with Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater, Brandwatch, and AI-powered communications tools.
